  • Submit your book scene or setting through screenshots or through a walkthrough video posted on Vimeo or YouTube.
  • Videos must be five minutes or shorter. If submitting screenshots, they must be 15 or fewer.
  • Entries will be judged on creativity, completeness, and attention to detail.
  • Entries will be accepted from June 10 through August 31, 2015.
  • Winners will be notified in September. Winning entries can be viewed after winners have been notified on TRL Teens Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TimberlandLibraryTeens

How do you play Minecraft?
Minecraft is a computer game that allows you to build things with blocks. Here are some resources to help you get started:
  • minecraft.net – the official website of Minecraft. Download the game, play the trial version, search the help section.
  • minecraftbasics.net – what you need to know to get started with Minecraft.
  • minecraftwiki.net – the official resource on information about Minecraft.
Ideas and Inspiration

Things to consider as you build:
  • If your scene takes place indoors, think about the features you'd see in a house, school or other building, such as rooms, windows, furniture, etc.
  • If your scene takes place outdoors, think about the features you'd see outside, such as land features, cliffs, water, trees, roads, etc.
  • Think about how your characters interact (or not) and how they act in the scene or setting.
How to Submit Using Vimeo

Step One: Create a Vimeo Account:
  1. Go to www.vimeo.com
  2. Click "Join Vimeo." A basic membership is free and will allow you to upload up to 500 MB a week.
  3. Fill out the form with all your info. If you're under 15, make sure your parents help you create your account.
  4. Vimeo will send you an email with a link.
  5. Open the email, click the link, and your account is created. In your account settings be sure that ANYONE can see your videos or we may not be able to find your entry.

Step Two: Upload Your Video:
  1. Your completed video file needs to be smaller than 500 MB.
  2. Log into your Vimeo account. Click "Upload a Video" at the top of the Vimeo home page.
  3. Click "Choose a video to upload..." and find the video file on your computer.
  4. Click on the video filename and the video will upload. Be patient - after uploading it may take awhile before your video is available to view.

Step Three: Share Your Video:
  1. Once your video is uploaded, fill out the Minecraft Entry Form. Be sure to include all requested information, including the URL for your video: we want to make sure we can find it. If you will be sending screenshots, in addition to filling out the entry form, you will also need to email teens@trl.org and add your screenshots as attachments.
