Animal Pictures Archive
The Animal Pictures Archive contains over 34,000 animal-related images and photographs including pet animals. You can upload your own photos of animals to this photo gallery and share them with people all over the world.

Freshwater and Marine Image Bank
University of Washington’s digital collection has over 21,000 images of fish, shellfish, and marine mammals, pictures of fish hatcheries and dams and vessels, materials related to polar exploration, regional and traditional fisheries, and limnological (freshwater) subjects. Most of the images were taken from a variety of publications issued between 1735 and 1924.

US Fish and Wildlife Service Digital Library System
The Fish and Wildlife Service's collection of public domain still photos, videos, and audio clips. You can search by keyword or browse collections that are organized by geographic location and subject.

"A guide to great art on the internet."  Includes over 180,000 images of mostly paintings and sculpture.

Getty Photo Study Collection
Over two million photographs covering Western art, architecture, and decorative arts from antiquity to modern times.

Searchable database of the collections of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Contains over 82,000 images!

Lessing Images
Erich Lessing Culture and Fine Arts Archive is an extensive image library featuring over 40.000 high resolution images from over 500 museums and many other collections. Founded and mostly photographed by Erich Lessing, the collection covers a wide range of subjects: Fine Arts, Religion, History, Music, Archaeology, Mythology, Architecture, Landscapes, Historical Portraits and Reportage.

SJSU WorldImages database
The internationally recognized WorldImages database provides access to the California State University IMAGE Project. It contains approximately 80,000 images, is global in coverage and includes all areas of visual imagery.

Earth Science World Image Bank
Over 6,000 earth science images.  Can browse by categories such as volcanoes, weather, lakes, and minerals, or search by category, location, and/or keyword.
(Requires a Java-enabled browser.) Database of aerial photographs and satellite images. Current coverage is mainly the U. S. and parts of Europe with other scattered areas of the world.

British Library Images Online
A wonderful site with over 150 million images from the British Library collection.  The site includes a subject index and a title index in addition to the usual search options.  New images are added daily.

Library of Congress American Memory
A variety of searchable photo collections from the national Library of Congress, including: historic American architecture, baseball cards, women's suffrage, jazz legends, World War II, vaudeville, and more.

New York Public Library Digital Collections
NYPL Digital Collections provides free and open access to over 694,337 images digitized from the The New York Public Library, including illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints, photographs and more.

Sports Illustrated Pictures
Sports Illustrated Pictures contains an archive of thousands of current and historical sports imagery from around the globe.  This Getty Images powered archive can be browsed or searched by keyword.

MOHAI Photo Archive Search
Photos from the Museum of History and Industry, covering Seattle, King County and Washington State.

Seattle Municipal Archives Photograph Collection
Over 100,000 digital images from the Seattle Municipal Archive. Photos from the 1880s to the present, including subjects such as public works, city events, city sites and facilities, and elected officials. Photographs are public record and do not require permission for use.

University of Washington Libraries Digital Collections
